Would You Kindly … ?

I’m not gonna recommend this … because there is nothing praiseworthy about it … but I thought I’d draw people’s attention to the Rationalwiki article on Rand — because never was anything more incisive written about her and her <ahem> ‘philosophy’.

The TL;DR version is:

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”— John Rogers

“Generally, the work of Ms. Rand is hugely enjoyed by people with the literary sensitivities of 11-year-olds who imagine they have fierce political sophistication.”— Rationalwiki

If you ever meet anyone professing to be a fan of her work/thinking, you can rest assured that they are … whether or not they are aware of it themselves … without a shadow of a doubt … and without exception … a narcissist, sociopath/psychopath or similarly immoral/evil individual with no genuine(ly) redeeming qualities (no matter how convincing their perormance may appear to give the lie to that — it is merely an act … do not fall for it).

If you’re morbidly masochistic, you might like to read the comments section of this piece and despair — alternatively, if you’re inclined to optimism, for some unfathomable reason ¹, you may find cause to be so.

¹ Me?

Well, not only was my glass full, but it was a bigger glass to start with, you thieving bar steward!

Where Angels Fear

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
