Which is why I have to question the earlier remark "The world’s sole superpower"

Is it?

It's like the "Leader of the free world" I keep seeing ... (by US commentators, nobody else) ... who, at the end of the day, is the President Of The United States (of America) and nowhere else: the rest of us have our own leaders, thanks and don't need yours — we're screwing things up perfectly well all by ourselves as it is.

China's pretty superpowerful these days and, by all accounts quietly getting more so, investing in Africa, whilst the US (and Western Europe) does ... what, exactly? If there's wealth and power to be made by resting on our laurels then the West has it made, but ... I'm not sure there is actually. Meanwhile, however, the last time I looked, it seemed that Alibaba could've bought Amazon with pocket change.

India ... yeah, they have nukes too — and their economy's pretty vibrant as well (if you call a hotline in lot of the World, the chances are you'll end up rerouted to a call centre in India). Bollywood turns over more revenue than Hollywood has ever even heard of. Apparently, they're set to outstrip even China poulation-wise in the near future to boot!

Russia may not be as wealthy, but, despite that seems to be still not only holding its own, but to pose a threat to the US — what with all its cyber and information warfare capabilities (not to mention the nukes). So how powerful is the US really, if it can’t put somewhere as poor as Russia in its place?

There's a lot of good about the US and its people and I've had the pleasure of visiting it a few times and making friends there myself. But you really do need to rein in that hubris of yours: its never been becoming as such ... and it's getting more than a little embarrassing for you these days.

I forget which language it's from, but there's a word in it that means "to experience embarrassment/shame on behalf of another". You need to stop saying things like "God's own country", "land of the free", "leader of the free world", "the World's sole superpower" and stuff like that now ... before the rest of us can't stand to be in the same room with you any more and leave you to your own devices — splendid isolationism wasn't successful for you the first time around ... and Trump has shown that it works even less well in today's ever more interconnected world.

Take a look at the World Series: it’s only played in the US and involves a sport never played outside schools anywhere else in the entire World. That should put things in perspective for you.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
