Here we go … the slippery slope
Next thing you know, they’ll be treating psychopaths and sociopaths with neural ‘interventions’ instead of simply rounding them up and burying them alive, like any rational person would — neural interventions that can fail … or be disabled.
After that, there’ll be black market demand for the opposite: implants that turn off ethics, guilt and remorse — supplied by troops who (having implants of their own) have no qualms about digging them out of the brains of opponents and comrades fallen on the battlefield … harvesting them and selling them on … because they have no scruples to worry about.
Besides which … neurobiologically/neurochemically based chronic depression is something that really should be left to Natural Selection: left to their own devices, the miserable sods will off themselves, get out of the genepool and make the World an increasingly happier place as a result … whereas, if we allow them to fake it, people will fall in Love with their seemingly happy-go-lucky demeanour and produce miserable bastard offspring with them … miserable bastard offspring who go on to make the rest of us miserable with their constant gloom and f*cking moodswings — and you’re not telling me that, no, “it’ll be fine, because they’ll get implants too” … because they won’t; they’ll either be miserable f*ckers who are successful (and, therefore, see no need to change their behaviour), or else they’ll become raging alcoholics/junkies unable to hold down a job and too poor to get one as a result …. and the rest of us will continue to suffer as before.
Down with this sort of thing, I say!
Whilst we’re at it … we should stop giving people antidepresssants too — assisted ² ‘suicide’ is a much better longterm solution for the species.
Tune in next week, to hear me expound upon why I think we should outlaw corrective vision solutions (‘glasses’ or ‘spectacles’) and improve the genepool by letting Nature take her course as the myopic, subhuman bastards walk into traffic, open lift-shafts and off cliffs.
