Are today’s nations past their sell-by date?
If so, what are we to do about their geography?
Let’s say we are citizens of a virtual state known as VS1.
I live in VS1 (London Chapter), you in VS1 (Los Angeles Chapter).
He lives in VS1 (Johannesburg Chapter) and she lives in VS1 (Moscow Chapter).
Might makes Right … that’s the only true law of human affairs — all the rest are simply social mores.
What happens when some thugs break in to her apartment in Moscow, rape and rob her?
Who is going to protect her?
Who is going to investigate the crime?
What reason do her neighbours have to assist our local chapter of law enforcement agents in their enquiries?
We can’t oblige them to, for they are not citizens of VS1 and we have no legal jurisdiction over them — any attempt to do so might well be considered a declaration of war by the virtual state(s) of which they are citizens … and then things will get out of hand.
Who is going to protect our interests in geographical regions in which the citizenry of VS1 are in the minority?
Might makes Right … that’s the only true law of human affairs and the majority will ignore our outrage as surely as they have that of their own victims throughout History.
A virtual state is a whimsical idea and makes for a great alternative reality story, but Reality doesn’t just bite, it kicks your door in and gang rapes your wife and daughter at gunpoint.
