Where Angels Fear

Tweet, Tweet, Twat.

A load of entitled, whiny, divisive “us versus them” crap in which it’s everyone else’s fault but the author’s own generation … which is in no way to blame for anything because, unlike generations before it, it shouldn’t need to go to the polls and vote … or go on demonstrations and marches … or join unions, form co-operatives, found political parties or anything that would actually take more effort than swiping left or right on a fondle-slab made in a Third World sweatshop.

12.5% of 16–24 years were unemployed as of this April past, were they?

Try continental Europe — see how you like it there, lad. Oh, that’s right, you can’t … because, unlike me and my generation, you haven’t actually done anything to make the dream of an integrated Europe actually happen … like living and working abroad, learning foreign languages, adopting and adapting to other cultures, setting up businesses and employing people from across the continent. Well, trust me, they have it worse than you, okay.

Or you might like to ask how much better it was for your parents in the 1970s.

Or your older siblings what the 1990s had in store for them beyond a better class of drugged up oblivion to make their lives go by faster.

Joblessness, housing crises, you’d think no other generation had ever been, or were going to be, affected. No doubt pensionable age seems like a lifetime away and not something the author worries about, but when you’re beyond the flush of your thirties, unemployed and don’t own your own home, the chances of your ever getting on the housing ladder are significantly poorer than when you’re in your twenties or early thirties — and you don’t have a ‘bank of Mum And Dad’ to turn to … you are the bank!

So, what does the author of the piece suggest be done about it other than pen whiny, self-indulgent opinion(ated)-pieces on how it’s everyone else’s fault that he actually needs to get up, pull his thumb out of his arse and do something about the fact that the World neither owes him a living nor cares whether he lives or dies and isn’t going to hand him anything on a plate any more than it did the generations before him [1] then?

Answers in a tweet, please — more than 140 characters is an awful imposition, you know … like … totally unfair.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
