Self Restraint

Two words few people who don’t know me would ever expect to hear pass my lips.

But … I am (surprisingly) something of a master of it.

For instance, every so often, when I’m at a bit of a loose end and can’t think of anything I want to do … and, as a result, feeling restless … I’ll make gratuitous fun of Stephen M. Tomic in some way.

Today, I was going to post a link to this …

… make some remark about how Life can be cruel when you’re adopted and nobody loves you and you have to find a way to make ends meet — just because I can (you know how it is).

But …

The first thing I saw when I logged in to Medium was an entry in my From Your Network feed that I thought I’d take a look at, which led me to this …

And, well, you know …

So, now, I’m reminded that we are, in some ways at least, kindred spirits … so, I think I’ll cut him a break this time — just pretend you never saw that T-shirt associated with his name and that I never mentioned his being adopted and unloved, okay.

Just, whatever you do, don’t play the audio version of his post — it doesn’t suit his profile photo and will disillusion you terribly ¹.


¹ A man with stubble like that should sound like Serge Gainsbourg, not one of the Chipmunks …
