Really?

Doesn't that lack of prior dissatisfaction with the status quo give the lie to your previous assertion that revolutions don't happen overnight though?

After all, without a build-up of grievance over time beforehand, what reason did any of them have to take the lack of bread as a last straw rather than shrug and say "Well, it can't be helped, can it? These things happen - there was a bad harvest after all."
