Poems On Instagram

In 1986, the Poems On The Underground project was launched, with the intent of bringing poetry to a wider audience by displaying poems on the Tube¹.

Recently, SouthpawPoet decided to move from Medium in favour of Instagram.

I (gently, as is my wont) poked fun at her for this — suggesting that she had chosen cheap notoriety amongst the attention deficit generation² over artistic integrity and self-respect.

But, who knows, maybe she isn’t wrong to do so … maybe poems on Instagram could be just as effective a way of informing the taste of a younger generation.
