Not serious?
Not serious!?
Of course I’m serious!
I didn’t say “Mess around with ducking stools and other nonsense, giving her the time to wriggle free of her bonds, jump upon her broomstick and make her escape,” did I?
Nor did I say “Waste time putting her on trial, at which she’ll cast a spell, mesmerising you and seduce you into freeing her.”
Did I suggest that you should let her fetch her ̶c̶a̶t̶ demon familiar?
No, I did not.
I said none of these things.
Instead, I took the matter very seriously, suggesting you waste no time but, instead
Burn her!
Burn the witch!
Burn her NOW!
<Ahem>
No … you surmise correctly: I was not seriously suggesting that you burn her at the stake (or whatever).
If that photo is of the ̶w̶i̶t̶c̶h̶ … lady … I mean lady … in question then she looks quite young — mid-30s (early-40s at the outside)? In which case … well, we’re headstrong at that age, aren’t we? We think we’re mature, worldly wise and know our own minds, when we’re not actually and often really don’t. I recall having a conversation with my mother, during which I had no choice but to observe in response to her remark “But he’s a grown man” that “No, he’s not … he’s only thirty” — and, tbh, it’s not until around forty-five that it all even begins to start clicking into place, is it?
Really, my more serious remarks here are about all I can suggest by way of what to do about the situation … because
- I’m not sure there’s anything you can do — once people get involved in a cult, it’s difficult even for family members to get them back, let alone outsiders
- I’m not sure it’s even your place to — she’s an adult and it’s her life, her choice.
Anyway … I think shall rewatch this this evening — I’m in the mood now 😀
