“Love is like crawling through broken glass and dogshit.” — Greg, in Misfits ¹.
As long as heterosexuality involves both men and women, Love is destined to fail miserably.
Like flowers, Humanity was meant to have three sexes ², but something went wrong and hermaphrodites are sterile … and, as a result, we are stuck with Love instead — which has caused more misery than anything else in History.
It’s a combination of oxytocin, vasopressin, dopamine, adrenaline and serotonin … a mind-altering cocktail of psychoactives that dupes two people into making each other miserable, in the vain hope that things will get better, because the sex was good once.
It’s Nature’s way of ensuring we don’t kill each other for long enough to produce and raise offspring … no more, no less.
I’d like to believe that homosexuality is better … even if for no other reason than that you don’t have arguments about who left the toilet seat up/down, but someone I knew had a gay flatmate who used to drive his longsuffering cellmates up the wall by doing just that — besides which, my gay/lesbian friends don’t seem to have had an easier time of it than the heterosexuals amongst us *sigh*
Still, maybe it has that element, mentioned by Jim Jefferies, of it being possible, if your partner is behaving like a dick, to end the argument with a punch in the mouth — which has got to be something, I suppose.

¹ The original, British series, of course, not the inevitably dreadful US remake.
