a Soul, with a capital S.

Oh, yes?

physical temperature of your surrounding is not really an issue for you- within certain limits of course.

Dry heat = good.

Humid = bad.

32–35C is pleasantly warm/hot.

Over 40 degrees is too hot.

If it gets cold, you can always put on another layer.

Once you’re naked and underwater, you’re not getting any cooler, so where do you go from there, if you’re too hot?

Istanbul

I’ve only ever been to Turkey as a tourist, so, I suspect my feelings about it are entirely unfounded. Moreover, I was probably unduly influenced by G.A. Effinger.

I liked it … and the people I met … a lot though.

I’m uneasy about it, however; firstly thanks to the political climate, secondly due to the fact that I am all too aware that, as a man, it might seem perfectly wonderful to me, but not to the other 50% of the human race.

Johannesburg

Hmmmm … there’s more to life than chips — what else has it got going for it?

Sydney

Dunno …

I really ought to visit Oz, but I’m aware that it’s an incredibly racist place in many ways and quite possibly even more right-wing than the UK — Murdoch comes from there after all.

Furthermore, it’s not easy to escape from, all on its own down there — compare it to Eurasia, where you can walk from western Portugal to eastern China!

Lyon

Mon français n’est plus aussi courant qu’avant mais je me débrouille quand même.

Tokyo

Interesting.

Hadn’t thought of Japan.

How easy is it to learn Japanese? I’ve been quite lazy and haven’t bothered to learn Dutch, Portuguese or Russian when I really should long since be fluent in all of them … so, just how much trouble will it be?

And, again, Japan is a tiny place — how anonymous can one be really?

Any other recommendations?

Rome?

Milan?

Athens?

Prague?

Moscow?

St Petersburg?

Beijing?

Shanghai?

New Delhi?

Mumbai?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
