I have my moments, it’s true … even I recognise that much … but doesn’t everyone?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say ‘genius’ though.

I grant you that I do appear to have an awful lot of those “genius is seeing the obvious where others can’t” moments, but that says to me not so much that I’m a genius as that you’re all congenital imbeciles — seriously, we’d better hope I’m not a genius … because if I’m a genius, the human race in very deep shit indeed.

Although I’ll admit that I’m rather partial to the use of Schopenhauer’s Get Out Of Jail Free remark that “Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see” — that’s a fantastic excuse: it’s not that I’m a poor shot … it’s that you can’t see what I was aiming at (because I’m a genius … and you’re not).

But, yes, it would seem that I do have a talent for, and honed skill at, improving things — naturally, the better the source material, the less that need be done … hence why, albeit 50% of the material, I only needed to edit two lines of the second verse.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
