I, Despot

Many, many moons ago … having an inordinate amount of spare time on my hands to waste … I spent some of it on the below site.

I had some real fun interacting with people, writing interactive stories between us, detailing the trials and tribulations of everything and everyone from bit player non-entity citizens to the lives of the great and the good and detailing the histories of our nations and current international events.

There was one player in particular, a teenage girl, who devised the most impressively original material I’ve read … vastly superior to Gaiman’s characters and world — the major players (from Dementia to some six or so other archetypes decidedly more inventively original in conception than Gaiman’s ¹) were all locked in their own (purple) realms by some great power, whilst the spirit of Scott Joplin (reincarnated as a player piano) orchestrated his bid for world domination behind the scenes.

Eventually, Life caught up with me, made demands upon my time and I lost track of it … ultimately forgetting all about it.

You’d’ve thought that, during my time here, surrounded by writers of every ilk, that I’d’ve remembered it before now but, oddly, didn’t.

So, now that I have … as so many of you might enjoy frittering your time away writing for no reward other than the pleasure of interacting with other world builders and story tellers ² … well, that and the political intrigue, war, megalomania, world domination, despotic oppression of entire peoples, etc. … I thought I’d bring it to your attention.

Enjoy …

¹ Death? Really? How pedestrian — he’d been done to … well, death … long before Sandman.

² I’m thinking of Arona Jones in articular, but I figure Gutbloom, Stephen M. Tomic, Oliver “Shiny” Blakemore and even Aura Wilming might have some fun with it too — I reckon Gutbloom’s nation(s) would be particularly entertaining.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
