Heh, yeah 😀

Nevertheless, it’s bitterly disappointing …

… having been persuaded to take something on long-term on the basis that I’d have carte blanche to implement my vision of how things ought to be done properly, only to find, three months down the line, that I was still waiting on deliverables that should’ve been delivered before I even got there … that what had been delivered was inadequate (incomplete, frequently inaccurate, often outright incoherent¹) … that the fragile egos of the inadequates responsible for them were in no way interested in accepting that they were so ² … that there was no management structure beyond an external consultant looking to get everything ticked off before departing with a six figure bonus on top of their already six figure remuneration … who had no interest in hearing that things weren’t actually in a state to be ticked off … nor in taking the necessary steps to resolve the issues preventing them from being so … that the people I was working with were/are scarily bigoted … that the division manager was already off looking for alternative opportunities before I even set foot through the door …

… that my cataloguing of the failures of others, the root causes thereof and the necessary solutions thereto … in order that I and the other members of my taskforce could actually deliver on our contractual obligations … were deemed unnecessarily negative by those not interested in paying the slightest heed to the failings of those under their managerial auspices nor in investigating exactly why I might be a little less happy than the other campers around her telling her what a great job she was doing and how she was so clearly worth the sizable best part of seven-figure takehome she’d be getting at the end of the year.

I normally get paid for those observations … and people are grateful for them³ — in a just world, I’d be a literal troubleshooter … solving problems by shooting the causes of the trouble!

I had a vision (if not a dream) you know!

<sigh> … I should’ve known better really.

Still … as you say … some extra cash and I don’t have a court appearance for even Actual Bodily Harm, let alone Grievous Bodily Harm … it could be worse 😀

It just hasn’t improved my opinion of the rest of the Human Race — and, as you know, it wasn’t that high to begin with.

¹ And those were the best features.

² Responsible, let alone inadequate.

³ Alright … not for observing (at full volume) that the Chief of Staff is a fucktard and the root cause of all the problems everyone they’re commanding is experiencing — albeit, that is usually the case.

⁴ More’s the pity 😉

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
