Heh 😀

I'm not saying there were no other prophets of doom … it’s just that the others were saying things like “… and some people living on the other side of a town far, far away from anywhere you’ve ever heard of will earn less money than others!”

Whilst Womack and I (and you?) were saying “… and as the sewers rise, once again, during the daily tidal motion that ensures nobody lives below the tenth floor if they can help it, you’ll be able to watch your life ebb away with your good eye as, for want of anything better to do to pass the time, your neighbours’ seven-year old kids skull-fuck you to death in the stairwell for entertainment (they won’t even bother to wait until you’re dead),”

There’s a difference between the romantic cybernoir of Gibson et al and those of us who, not having had the benefit of a middle-class lifestyle, had something of a grasp on what was actually likely to come to pass — it’s the difference between Star Trek and Gilliam’s Brazil or the original UK pilot of Max Headroom 😉

But it’s worse than even we imagined — I know people are braindead Morlocks, but I never even thought of Idiocracy and now look where we are!

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.
