Gratitude Redux
Going on for three years ago now, a friend very kindly gifted me the solution to a particularly tedious problem.
And my response was probably about what you’d expect from me …
Today they sent me a link to a solution to a problem I don’t have.
I have another, different, problem.
Or rather I don’t … but I’d like a better solution to the problem I don’t actually have than the one I currently have.
So, I’m looking for one.
And they are helping me search.
So … given that they know the nature of the problem I don’t actually have … and what improvement I am looking for over and above the current solution … quite why they sent me the link to a solution to an altogether different problem I don’t have is beyond me.
Furthermore, even if I had the particular problem to which it might be a solution, it would still be inadequate for the very reason that the current solution to the problem I actually don’t have is unsatisfactory.
So, I replied to their unsolicited link as follows:
“LOOK, you failure … what use is THIS to ME!!?
I need USB 3.0
NOT 2.0 … NOT one-point-f**king-one … 3.0!
SORT. IT. OUT!!!”
I think it patently obvious why they are still my friend, don’t you? 😉
